The Scholarship Foundation was established in 1993 as a registered charitable organization. It aims to support the education of men and women in our community and to encourage continuation of studies. We believe that educating people enables them to contribute meaningfully to our society, both in their chosen career and their family life.
Awards to Women
Marlis and Sigrid Wehr Mature Student Award* – awarded to a local mature student with financial need ($1,000). Click here for an application form.
Diana MacKay Kuilman Memorial Prize* – awarded to a local student in the helping professions with financial need ($1,500). Click here for an application form.
Claire Heller-Heilig LLB-MBA Prize – held at the University of Sherbrooke by a student demonstrating academic achievement, community involvement and financial need ($1,500).
Eileen Healy Prize for Leadership* – awarded to a graduate of Bishop’s University with high academic achievement and overall contribution to university life who intends to continue her studies at the graduate level ($1,000). Click here for an application form.
Champlain Regional College Prize for Science* – awarded to a graduate from the Eastern Townships who intends to pursue further scientific studies ($500). Click here for an application form.
Eastern Townships School Board Vocational Training Centre Prizes – awarded for effort to graduates in the business, health and shops divisions, with preference to women with children at home ($150 each).
Other Awards (not limited to women)
SHF Bursaries – awarded from the Sherbrooke Hospital Foundation endowment to students in health studies at the Lennoxville Vocational Training Centre (variable amounts). Click here for an application form.
SHF Donna Draper Award* – awarded from the Sherbrooke Hospital Foundation endowment in nursing ($1500). Renewable. Click here for an application form.
SHF Health Awards* – awarded from the Sherbrooke Hospital Foundation endowment in a wide diversity of health care fields. (Various amounts). Renewable. Click here for an application form.
One-room Schoolhouse Award for Elementary Education – awarded to a student of Bishop’s University or University of Sherbrooke who intends to become an elementary school teacher ($500). Click here for an application form.
Daphne Codère French Prizes – for progress in oral French at the Junior and Senior levels at Alexander Galt Regional High School ($50 each).
Marlis Wehr History Prize – for effort and achievement in history by a graduate of Alexander Galt Regional High School ($150).
CFUW Sherbrooke & District Prize for Leadership – for demonstration of leadership though service by a graduate of Richmond Regional High School ($150).
*These awards may be held at any approved institution and require that an application form be submitted to the Foundation by April 30. All other awards are granted at specific educational institutions. CFUW Sherbrooke & District holds an awards evening in late May.

The Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce receipt of a generous endowment from the Sherbrooke Hospital Foundation to establish nursing scholarships and other awards to train bilingual therapists and technicians in the Eastern Townships.
